Pre-registration lets people sign up for an event before your ticket sale starts. You get a list of interested contacts, a clear read on demand, and an audience to email the moment tickets go on sale.
Use it to build anticipation ahead of an announcement, check whether a show needs a bigger room, or give early fans first access with a presale code. Everyone who pre-registers is saved as a contact in Stager, so you can reach them with the Mailer like any other audience.
Collecting interest for a sold-out show? Use the Waitlist for that. Pre-registration is for events that aren't on sale yet.
How do I activate pre-registration?
Go to Planning - Events and open your event.
Open the Tickets tab.
In the Pre-registration block, set Activate pre-registration to Enabled.
Pick the date and time in Available until. People can pre-register until then.
Save your changes.
Your event now shows up in your ticket shop with a sign-up form. Share the single event link wherever your audience is: on socials, on your website, or in a mailing to last year's ticket-buyers.
The number next to Contacts pre-registered tells you how many people have signed up so far.
How do ticket-buyers pre-register?
When visitors enter your shop and view your event, ticket sales are not yet live, and pre-registration is enabled, then they will see a pre-registration form. In this form:
They enter their email address.
If they're already one of your contacts, that's it: they're added to the list. If they're new, they fill in the registration fields you've set for your shop, plus your opt-ins.
They see a confirmation message in the shop and get a confirmation email.
Logged-in visitors only have to click Continue.
Someone who signs up twice is only added once. They see the same confirmation either way, so the shop never reveals whether an email address is already on your list.
When does pre-registration close?
Pre-registration closes automatically at whichever comes first:
The Available until date and time you set.
The moment the first regular or group ticket type goes online for the event.
Locked tickets, member tickets, and tickets sold only through a hidden sales link don't close it. That means you can run a presale for your VIP contacts while the pre-registration sign-ups stay open.
How do I email everyone who pre-registered?
You can email your list straight from the event or build an audience first.
Email from the event
Go to the Pre-registration block in the Tickets tab of your event.
Click the number next to Contacts pre-registered.
Select the contacts you want to reach, or select all.
Click Email in the bar at the bottom. From the same bar you can also Export or Edit the selected contacts.
Email through the Audience builder
Go to Marketing - Contacts - Audiences.
Click + New audience.
In the filter options, select Marketing - Has pre-registered for event.
Select the event(s) you want to target.
Click Calculate contacts, then Save audience.
Your audience is now ready to use in Marketing - Mailings. Add other filters to narrow it down, for example to reach people who pre-registered but haven't bought a ticket yet.
Can I change the text in the sign-up form?
Yes. Visitors see two messages: one above the sign-up form and one after they've signed up. Both come with a default text you can rewrite.
Go to Settings - Ticketing - Ticket shop - Messages.
Find the Pre-register block.
Edit the header (max. 140 characters) and body text (max. 1,000 characters) for before and after signing up.
Use the language toggle to add a version per language.
Where else does Pre-registration show up?
Your event's Marketing insights show how many contacts have pre-registered. Click the number to open the list.
New contacts who join this way get "Pre-registration" as their source. You'll see it on their contact record and in Marketing - Contacts - Dashboard.
