Whether you are using a professional Boca printer or a standard receipt printer, getting your hardware configured correctly is essential for a smooth entry process. Follow this guide to install and optimize your printer settings for Stager.
Important: Do not connect the printer to your computer immediately. Always install the driver first.
Setting up a Boca Printer
Installation & Configuration (Windows)
Install Driver: Download the drivers from Boca Systems and run the Windows installer.
Connect: Plug in the printer via USB. Windows will automatically detect it.
Set as Default: Go to Settings - Devices - Printers & scanners. Right-click your Boca printer and select Set as default.
Preferences:
Properties: Go back to the printer list, select Printer properties, and ensure the Paper Size is also set to Ski here.
Troubleshooting: Rotating the print 180Β°
If your barcode is printing on the wrong side of the tear line, you need to reverse the orientation. While this can sometimes be done in the driver, using the printer's control panel is the most reliable method:
Ensure tickets are loaded. The LCD should show the FGL software version.
Press MENU and CHOICES simultaneously for 3 seconds until FACTORY MENU appears. Note: Use caution in this menu to avoid disabling the printer.
Use the MENU key to find ORIENTATION?.
Use the CHOICES key to select REVERSE (a blinking cursor indicates the selection).
Press TEST to save. The printer will display SAVING CHANGES and reboot.
Setting up a Receipt Printer
The Stager ticket is optimized for Boca, but you can use a receipt printer (like Star Micronics) by adjusting the following settings.
Install Driver: Download the correct driver for your model (f.e. from Star Micronics). Run the installer before connecting the USB cable.
Connect & Default: Once installed, connect the printer and set it as the default printer in Settings - Devices - Printers & scanners.
Preferences:
Go to Manage - Printing preferences.
Set Orientation to Landscape.
Click Advanced and set Paper Size to 72 mm x 200 mm. (The 200 mm length is a technical requirement and will not affect the actual length of your printed receipt).
Browser Print Settings (Chrome)
Once your printer is configured in Windows or macOS, you must adjust Google Chrome to ensure the ticket fits the paper perfectly.
Windows Settings
Open Chrome and press Ctrl + P.
Set Layout to Landscape.
Click More Settings:
Margins: Set to None.
Paper Size: Select Ski (for Boca) or 72 mm x 200 mm (for receipt printers).
Mac OSX Settings
Open the Chrome print screen, but do not print from here as it handles these formats poorly.
Click Print using system dialog.
Select your printer and set the paper size to 6x3.25in (for Boca) or the corresponding receipt size.
Fine-tuning the fit
If the ticket still doesn't fit perfectly:
Manual Margins: In the Chrome print window, change Margins to Custom. You can then click and drag the margins on the screen to manually align the ticket.
Scale: Use the System dialog box to slightly reduce the print percentage (e.g., 95%) if the edges are being cut off.
After completing these steps, print a test ticket from Stager to verify everything looks sharp and aligns with the tear lines.
