Why does the data from Google Analytics differ from the actual sales?
Why does the data from Google Analytics differ from the actual sales?

About online marketing and conversion tracking.

Updated over a week ago

You've set up your online marketing, uploaded containers, turned on e-commerce, and you've been tracking for at least a month. The data you see in Analytics e-commerce doesn't quite match the actual sales made through Stager. Why is that?

There are two reasons that this data will never quite match.

  1. The ticket buyer may use Ad blockers or privacy plug-ins, or the ticket buyer has not given permission to accept cookies when visiting your website. In that case, no tracking can take place and a purchase will not be counted as a purchase in Analytics.

  2. The ticket buyer uses multiple browsers for a single purchase.

For example, a ticket buyer buys a ticket on his iPhone and does so with a Chrome browser. The payment process always breaks out, to the bank's payment environment. When the payment is completed, the phone opens the default browser to land the ticket buyer on the download page. This is Safari. This means that the cookie placed in the Chrome browser is not visible in the Safari browser and therefore this ticket sale is not counted as a purchase.
