Create a waitlist for your event

Build a list of interested potential ticket-buyers for your sold out event

Updated yesterday

It’s every ticket-seller’s dream: your event is so popular, it’s sold out, and demand for more tickets is high. Of course, you want to capture this interest, so you can let those interested know when more tickets become available. To do this in Stager, you can create a waitlist.

When activated, potential ticket-buyers of a sold-out show can leave their details on a waitlist. You can then easily contact them if new tickets are released or if you add an extra show date.

Locked tickets, membership tickets and guest tickets do not trigger the waitlist. Ticket-buyers can only sign up when all regular and group tickets are sold out.

How to activate the waitlist

  1. Go to the Tickets tab in your event

  2. Locate the Waitlist block

  3. Switch the setting to Enabled

The waitlist will automatically appear in your ticket shop the moment your event sells out. You can see who has signed up by clicking the number displayed in the Waitlist block.

How do ticket-buyers sign up to the waitlist?

The flow for (potential) ticket-buyers to sign up for the waitlist is simple. When an event is sold out, then this will be shown in your ticket shop, along with a prompt to leave your email address to sign up for the waitlist.

After entering their email address, if their details are not already known in your Stager contacts, then they can leave their details with the same sign-up form as for any new ticket-buyer. If they're already known in Stager, then they are immediately added to the waitlist after entering their email address.

How to notify people on the waitlist about their event

The waitlist has been activated, and you’ve collected the details of people on your waitlist. If you want to send a message to these people, for example if more tickets have become available, then you can do so through the waitlist, or by building an audience in the audience builder.

Email through the waitlist

  1. Navigate to the waitlist block in under the Tickets tab of your event

  2. Click on the waitlist number

  3. Select all contacts in the waitlist.

  4. Click the Email button in the bottom-right corner

  5. Email the waitlist directly with a new email, or from a template

Email through the audience builder

  1. Navigate to Marketing - Contacts - Audiences.

  2. Click + New audience.

  3. In the filter options, select Marketing information - Is on waitlist for event - for one or more of.

  4. Select the specific event(s) you want to target.

  5. Click Calculate contacts, and then Save audience.

Now you have your waitlist saved as an audience in Stager. You can now head over to Marketing - Mailings and send this audience information via the Stager mailer.
