Users and permissions.

How to add and manage your backstage users and their permissions.

Updated yesterday

Stager distinguishes between two different types of users:

  1. Contact accounts

  2. Backstage users

Contact accounts

A visitor is a contact who has signed up to your shop through Stager. In their personal account, the contact can buy tickets online and find purchased tickets, or subscribe or unsubscribe from a newsletter. All visitors who register end up in Contacts.

Visitors log in via:

https://[ORGANIZATION].stager.co/web/users

Replace ‘organization’ with your own organization name.

Backstage users

Backstage users are all Stager users who can log into Stager directly and use its functionality. At Settings - Account - Users you will find a searchable overview of all backstage users. Through this page, you can invite new users, set permissions, and remove users.

A user limit is set per package. Via Settings - Account - Deals - Backstage users you can find how many users there are in your organization and how many users you can still add, and at what cost.

A Backstage user can only be logged in once. With general users such as 'intern', which can be used by several people, you will be logged out when someone else logs in under the same username.

There is one exception. When scanning tickets, you want to let in as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. To support this, it's possible to have multiple people logged in to the same backstage user on mobile devices used for scanning. This applies when you're scanning tickets using the Stager mobile app.

How to invite new backstage users

Invite new backstage users on this page by clicking the yellow button Invite backstage user. Enter a name and email address. This user receives an email with the invitation to log in and to create a password.

Set user permissions

Newly created users have no permissions, by default. When they try to log in, they will initially see nothing. You must set these permissions yourself.

Navigate to their user account in Settings - Account - [User name] - Permissions. Here, you can choose which features they can view and/or manage and you decide which actions they may perform.

Your backstage users can sign-in via:

https://[ORGANIZATION].stager.co/backstage/sign-in. Replace ‘organization’ with your own organization name.

Set up two-factor verification

To provide extra protection for your data, you can set up a 2FA (two-factor verification) for your organization. This means that after entering their username and password, all users must also log in using a code generated by an Authenticator app like Google Authenticator (recommended).

If you enable 2FA, it applies to all users within the organization. It is not used for ticket buyers in the ticket shop.

You can set up two-factor authentication by following these steps:

  • Download and install the Google Authenticator app (or other reliable authenticator app) on a mobile device.

  • Download the app for Android or iOS.

  • Enable 2FA via Settings - Account - Organization - Security. Here you select 'Enabled' to enable the verification.

  • Every user in your account is now automatically logged out.

  • Every user must log in again. A QR code appears on the screen. You scan this with the Google Authenticator app.

  • A unique code then appears in the app, which is constantly refreshed. The most recent code is used to log in.

Recovery

You set up the extra verification on a mobile device. If you have lost your device or you have a new one, this verification must be set up again. This can be done using the recovery code that you receive when setting up 2FA. If you don't have that code at hand, only another backstage user can reset it for you.

Users who can log in and manage other backstage users can send you a 2FA recovery email. To do this, go to Settings - Account - Users, open the user, and click Send recovery mail. At that time, an email is sent to the backstage user. The email contains all the necessary steps for the user to set up 2FA again.

Manage your own personal account

Backstage users can manage their personal settings themselves in the Stager backstage. If you wish to do this, navigate to Settings - Account - Users - [Your name] - Personal settings

Users can change the following information on this page:

  • Personal data and login details such as username, password, email address and profile picture.

  • Landing page - choose the calendar or the Dashboard as the homepage of your Stager backstage.

  • Calendar view sets how many events per day are shown in your calendar on your screen.

  • Log out using the button in the top right corner.

How to reset your password for the Stager backstage

If you have forgotten or lost your password for your Stager backstage account, you can easily reset your password. Navigate to the login screen of your organization. Click on Reset password. Enter your email address linked to your user account.

You will then receive an email containing a link, where you can create a new password and log in again.
